Samovar School teaches Clowning Arts, from the sketch of a character to the development of dramaturgy.
This training is based on the acquisition of techniques. The school’s goal is to train artists, both performers/interpreters and authors/creators who are able to develop their own world.
The curriculum aims to provide students with technical and artistic skills, in terms of rigor, precision and teamwork, respecting their individual character and background. This gives them the basis to develop their own projects.
Pedagogical principles rely on highlighting the personal sensitivity and range of emotions, starting from improvisation work, acting techniques and”clowning tools” (writing and dramaturgy, tumbling, objects manipulation).
The first three cycles are the foundation of the training program. Their aim is to cover acting techniques, from preparing the actor or actress to writing and constructing numbers: solos, duets and collective forms.
A fourth cycle, the creation cycle, is designed for experienced artists wishing to focus on writing a solo, duo or even trio project.
Professional training in clowning in 3 cycles. Each cycle lasts 3 months at a rate of 35 hours per week. A level III diploma (Répertoire National de Certifications Professionnelles) is awarded at the end of the 3rd cycle.
These 3 cycles of certified professional training can be completed by the creation cycle (7 weeks of coaching from February to May, led by Michaël Egard and Lou Crusson). This cycle is designed for experienced clowns wishing to focus on writing a solo, duo or trio project. It is aimed at artists wishing to initiate a clowning project, as well as those who have just completed training at Le Samovar. It alternates between the Samovar in Bagnolet and the Tapis vert in Orne.
Auditions take place in February, June and November.
