Artistic Exploration Lab 2025-26: Shaping collective spaces and exploring boundaries | Red Noses International (AUT)

The Artistic Exploration Lab “Shaping collective spaces and exploring boundaries” provides performing artists emerging in the field of arts and health the opportunity to learn and exchange in an inspiring environment alongside acclaimed guides from the world of arts and health.

Through participatory action research and the exchange with like-minded colleagues and guides, the Artistic Exploration Lab fosters artistic development and reflects on the possibilities of artistic research in the field of arts and health.

Hosted by Red Noses International and as part of the international CultureAndHealth platform, we are calling on passionate and innovative artists to join an Artistic Exploration Lab, during which artists will work together at the intersection of their art forms to explore burning questions related to arts and health.

Timeline & expectations

Participants are expected to participate in ALL meetings and workshops. Travel costs, accommodation, and meals/per diems will be provided for the in-person workshops in Vienna.

Online Workshop: 24 – 26 September 2025, 9:30 – 18:00 CET
Online Meeting: 5 November 2025, 9:30 - 12:30 CET

In-Person Workshop (Vienna): 15-18 January 2026, 9:30 – 18:00 CET
Online Reflection Meeting: 27 January 2026, 10:00 – 13:00 CET

Criteria of participation

Min. 3 years of professional artistic experience in the performing art
Established artistic practice in culture, health, social and/or care sectors to pursue your research question
EU resident or national from a country eligible to the Creative Europe Programme
Comfortable working and connecting with others in English
Caring team player, Sensitive to ethical practice

Application process

Fill in the application form at by 28 February 2025.
Create a 1 minute video, introducing yourself and sharing what you hope to get out of the lab.
Send the video, and a current copy of your CV (preferably in PDF format) to art.lab@rednoses.org by 28 February 2025.

The lab guides will evaluate the applications and select an interdisciplinary group of 12 artists with questions and backgrounds that complement each other. All applicants will be notified of the decision by the end of March.
